Oh my god, JP accepted the Grammy for “From This Valley” and didn’t even thank Joy for helping write it?!
Man fuck him tbh. So childish.
i’m just gonna request all the music rpf fic then
OMG YES REQUEST THE CIVIL WARS FIC PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
just what ~really caused them to break up?
are they really not talking, or are they actually chillin’ at a beach house right now rolling in their money from the second album and laughing?
I feel like this is one of those cases that RPF is actually uniquely suited for, because the reality doesn’t make any damn sense and they’ve kind of left the fans to their own devices to make sense of it.

He never meant for so many years to pass between them. Everything had happened so quickly—the instant success, the whirlwind of touring, the months away from his family, it all just became too much.
He sits on his font porch, the autumn colored leaves pepper…
This is so gooooooooooood.
1) This is hyper-relevant to my current interests, and
2) OH MAN what if all their songs were actually inspired by some kind of emotional ripples back in time from their future lives and all of those songs eventually come true for them? Er, does that make any sense?
Anyway, I love the irony of this piece.
LITERALLY, YOU TWO WROTE A SONG ABOUT REGRETTING A LOST CONNECTION 20 YEARS DOWN THE ROAD AND YET YOU WON’T JUST TALK TO EACH OTHER for the love of
THIS HAS THE POTENTIAL TO GET SO REAL
someone PLEASE actually request this
"Dust to Dust" | the Civil Wars
Wow this video is NOT FUCKING OKAY.
Them singing to each other in the studio god just fucking kill me. I feel like crying because these assholes can’t just be cool with each other.
(Side note: I’ve been to that bookstore.)
I finally stopped feeling petty long enough to listen to the new Civil Wars album and…
That Mama song is kinda creepy.
Man, idk how to feel about that NYT interview with Joy.
On one hand, I feel bad that she’s been hurt by people speculating about her and JP on the internet. If people have been tweeting her and JP inappropriate questions (which, knowing Twitter, they probably have), then that’s terrible and I feel so sorry for her. Getting up in the artists’ faces like that is truly disgusting.
On the other hand, if she’s just talking about the speculation that’s been going around in general… well, you can’t get mad at a bunch of strangers for discussing the elephant in the room. Sorry. That’s not how it works. Especially when you’re only encouraging that speculation with every enigmatic statement you put out.
I mean, you say you don’t want people speculating about an affair, and then you say, “If you want to know what happened to the band, listen to the album.” The first single from the album is about regretting a love affair. Really, dudes?
When that song came out, with that super tense video, I honestly felt like they were fucking with us, playing up the ~~omg did something scandalous happen between them? angle. I honestly still kind of feel that.
You want us to avoid saying that, even if that’s how we feel, out of loyalty to you? We don’t know you. Maybe we adore you, but we aren’t your friends. We don’t know you personally. We don’t know if you’re capable of doing something like that or not.
It’s not that people are being malicious toward you, it’s just that when everybody has the same thought enter their heads, at some point someone’s inevitably going to go, “…Dude, the emperor isn’t wearing any clothes.”
The fans who run around primly yapping about how ~~TRUE FANS~~ don’t discuss unflattering topics relating to the band are usually the ones who think they do know the band personally and can therefore make judgments about what the band would or wouldn’t do. (I have literally seen someone say this in the TCW tag.)
I swear, sometimes artists want their fans to stop acting like their friends, and then the instant things go south they want us to give them the same blind loyalty we give our friends. This is fundamentally a business relationship between artist and patron, dude. I don’t have to be loyal to your anything.
I am super uncomfortable with that kind of power imbalance between artist and fan, where we’re supposed to be 100% loyal to you and love you to the point of never even entertaining the notion that you could do something immoral… but if we cry when we meet you, or if we make a dozen gifsets of your face, or if we get curious about your personal life, woah, calm down. You shouldn’t love us so much, we’re just a band.
I say unfavorable things about my friends online, I say irreverent and negative things about my darling favorite band online, and I’m gonna keep discussing the Civil Wars thing as long as they seem to be making plenty of hay out of it for their new album.
Like… seriously, Joy, I’m sorry people on the internet were mean to you, but you have three Grammys because of those people.
Most of us have people being mean to us on the internet, and we don’t get any Grammys. =(
I just watched the new Civil Wars video and wow now they’re fucking with us.
Plot twist: The whole hiatus was manufactured to capitalize on the fans’ suspicions about the closeness of Joy and JP’s relationship while giving Joy an excuse to hang out at home with her baby.
