About This Blog
This is my personal blog, so there's no accounting for what you'll get here. I'll blog a lot of something one month and be on something totally different the next.

I also rant and argue a lot.

Stuff I usually blog:
→ politics (American and international)
→ international relations
→ social justice (feminism especially)
→ language & linguistics
→ the Balkans
→ gymnastics
→ personal stuff
Alison Krauss
fandom

This blog doubles as an Alison Krauss' boobs appreciation blog because for some reason, when you do a Google search for Alison's boobs, my blog is generally the first relevant result. I don't know how this happened, but I will accept it, because if people are gonna be googling her boobs, better they find the blog of a heterosexual fangirl than that of some skeezy old man.

If I ever disappear or get hacked, find me at iellaantilles.tumblr.com.

[Aggressively ships The Doctor and River without hating any other ships]

One thing I love about River/Eleven is the age difference in their actors

If you haven’t seen “The Name of the Doctor”

Three cheers for positive portrayals of age-gap relationships and sex-positive representation for older women in media!

And yet, there are still girls in the River Song tag complaining that they might be able to ship River/Eleven if only Alex Kingston was a bit younger. =/

But I am envious of some great romances. Jesse and Celine from the Before films. The Doctor and River Song. One day I hope to have something like that. I’m a hopeless romantic.

You have excellent taste in pairings.

i’m gonna be (500 miles) - sleeping at last - river & the doctor

I don’t usually have feels for fanvids but wow I was literally clutching a pillow halfway through this one.

So River knows his name because there was only one time when he could say it and I think that was when he wasn’t The Doctor so River has to come back I think when it all unravels

Oh my god, I love this theory.

He told river his name in let’s kill hitler.

That’s not confirmed, though. I mean, yeah, probably. But this show leaves things like that vague just so they can go back later and say, “Surprise! You thought it was this but it was really that!”

I mean, there are still a ton of people under the impression that the Doctor told River his name during the Wedding of River Song, so.

And, I do think the story implies that River would have been there at his death. Otherwise who set up her tombstone as a shortcut? That would imply that River is around for his whole life. So it doesn’t really matter when either of them dies.

I think that makes a hell of a lot of sense, actually.

This is how I’ve always thought of their relationship.

So I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one that just wants to see The Doctor and River have a really good hug?

Def not the only one. The Doctor should’ve just held her for a moment before saying goodbye. River deserves to be held just once.

desire-a-river:

[SPOILERS]
What’s truly heartbreaking is not that River is gone, but that the doctor came to truly love again only to have to say goodbye. She was as close to an equal and confidant  as he will ever come to find and she helped him become a better man. And even though she died, his words “I can always see you” seem like more of a vow to never forget or stop loving her.
This is why I cry when I watch Doctor Who.

This is why I’m so upset by this idea that their timelines are exactly back-to-front and Eleven is the only Doctor she ever knew. River was basically the only Time Lady he’d known since having to kill his entire race. She could follow his logic, she could save him without having to be told what to do, she could speak to him in his mother tongue. She didn’t have a mortal lifespan.
It’s such a waste for him to only have such a short time with her. She was supposed to be the one person he could go to when he needed someone to really understand him.
