Making a bluegrass compilation for one of my instructors, and I need suggestions.

Obviously AKUS will be well represented, but what else is good for a beginner?

His idea of bluegrass is trucks and Republicans. When I told him it’s more like “my baby’s buried by the mountain stream and my daddy’s in jail for murder,” he said, “So they just keep singing about the same things generation after generation, then?”

#2 is the false one.

Please, like I would flirt with Mr. Harvard. Dude has so much privilege I can smell it from 20 minutes away. He gels his hair and speaks like a caricature of an old-money Harvard grad (I’m going to start keeping a list of things he has actually said in casual conversation) and his last name has an accent mark in it and he wants to go to the Middle East in order to help people there. A white Harvard-educated rich American guy born in 1990. Is going to help the Middle East. You guys. You guys.

As for the Spanish-speaking student, I think one of them was attempting to ask me out the other day, but I successfully dodged it by telling him (quite truthfully) that I’m not allowed to speak to him in Spanish per my instructor’s rules. (Even though that same instructor speaks to the Italian students in Italian. Qué double standard.) But so, I guess I’m safe from an awkward situation unless this guy goes home and learns date terminology in English.

All the other things on that list? I actually did.

1. I had a lengthy debate with two professors and three fellow students about whether zombie readiness plans are necessary, and what the best procedures would be.

2. I flirted with a Harvard grad in French, and then with one of my students in Spanish. (Oops.)

3. I explained the term “bloodplay” to a professor and fellow student.

4. I made one fellow student cry with laughter by introducing the phrase “sex swing” into a classroom activity.

5. I marked the stress patterns on vocabulary words using the anarchy symbol in front of the class.

THAT’S ALL GONNA BREAK. THIS INCLUDES THE INTERNET. Thus, the most important thing to do in the event of a zombie apocalypse is:

RESEARCH. For as long as you possess the internet, do everything you can to learn as much as possible. Research edible/medicinal plants (or seriously, go into a bookstore and loot your shit a guidebook, they’re not large, they sell little tiny ones, you can put it in your pocket, WHY DOES EVERYONE IN EVERY ZOMBIE MOVIE NOT DO THIS). In 1962, Doc Watson and some of his musician neighbors set out from their home in the Blue Ridge Mountains on the journey of a lifetime, to perform at the Ash Grove folk club in Los Angeles.
